👩 description

my mother used to make these for us when we were little. i still loooooove them and i thought i'd share. fairly simple kid-pleaser for sure! sort of like a mini-meatloaf surrounded by biscuit. i listed refrigerator biscuits to provide a shortcut, but you can also make your own (which is what i do) instead. sooo good!

💬 Reviews (Awesome Recipe! My friend gave this recipe to me as well and it is the easiest thing to make! I make my homemade buns recipe#58660 and when I reach the step of forming them into buns, I roll these into golf ball size rolls and freeze them in a single layer on a cookie sheet. When they are fully frozen I place them into a container and I'm all set to whip up a fancy morning breakfast! I really enjoyed the smell of these as they baked in the oven and my family, including our exchange student who doesn't like a lot of bread, gobbled up this when I made it for breakfst last week. My husband even put in a request to have it every Sunday! Thanks for posting!)

this is a recipe my mom made during our 'poor' years as kids. and we loved it! our friends too in fact, so much so that when they knew she was making it for supper, they'd want to just 'hang around a little longer' after school. and now it's one of my hubbys favorites! a great recipe with 'on hand' ingredients! i hope you like as much as we do!

💬 Reviews (This was the most simple, delicious recipe I think i've ever found. I use to make homemade cinnamon rolls and my family would beg for them, I cooked this recipe when they were all over and the taste was so much the same i'll never go to all the trouble of making the other recipe again! It's land of nod for me from now on!! Thank you for your recipe)

very finely chopping onion, mushrooms and carrots in the food processor is not only fast—it makes the vegetables hard to detect for picky eaters. they also form the base for the sauce of this ground beef skillet supper. make it a meal: serve with a green salad.

💬 Reviews (These were great. I added more brown sugar, cinnamon and pudding. I also used walnuts instead of raisins. I will be making these often. I would also suggest placing the bundt pan on a pizza pan or aluminum foil to catch any overflow.)

when money is tight this will stretch your hamburger meat. it's another recipe from my favorite cook book - stories & recipes of the great depression by rita van amber. this recipe is attributed to alma smith of woodville, wi. she wrote: this was a popular dish when meat was rationed through the war. use what you need in whatever dish you're making and freeze the rest.

💬 Reviews (Yum! I love make ahead recipes - followed this one exactly with great results. Easy, and so delicious hot out of the oven. I left the leftovers out after breakfast and everyone broke off a piece every time they walked by the kitchen counter!)

this recipe is from cooking with paula deen magazine nov/dec 2009. it is an accompaniment to bacon cheeseburger soup recipe#411645 i posted, also by paula deen. these delicious cheese toasts have a nice zip with the mustard and worcestershire sauce along with a hearty helping of cheese. they are perfect dunkers for soup especially the soup above as you feel like with the two it is a burger on a bun. easy to make and fast to make. fun looking and unique. enjoy! chefdlh

💬 Reviews (Great recipe! I'm not reall gung-ho about cinnamon, so I just used 1/2 tbsp and they were great! Also used pecans instead of raisins. However, after only 20 minutes of cooking, mine were already burning on top. Fortunately, I like mine a little well done.)

this has a nice backstory to it (don't all my recipes ha ha:-) a friend of mine who lives way out in washington state told me about her fleischmann's yeast breads booklet. she got it in a mixer she received as a wedding gift over 25 years ago. she says the recipes in the booklet are sooooo good she has worn her booklet to a frazzle-pages are coming loose, dog-eared, you know what i'm talking about. anyway, i decided i'd try to find her a new one (or a good used one) i spent weeks searching the web looking on ebay, amazon, alibris and every little site i knew of to find a copy. finally after 3 months of looking i found two copies on ebay-bid on em and got both of em for a real good price! boy was she happy. she told me about this bun recipe and how great it was and that i should try making them. she was right (she usually is:-) these make very good buns. you can add sesame or poppy seeds to the tops with an egg wash. with summer fast upon us i thought i'd send this one in. i use these all the time when i make my blue mill tavern sandwiches i've posted to this site. enjoy! makes 8 buns. p.s. i'm very sad to say my friend who told me of this recipe has gone on to be with the lord. i shall miss her very very much but i know she is now with her beloved husband and family who passed before her. thank you kath for making me a better person (and a better baker!).
