    crusty italian bread', 'prosciutto', 'asiago cheese', 'extra virgin olive oil', 'dried oregano', 'dried parsley'

all of these ingredients can be adjusted to your liking , just be sure not to skimp on the quality of the ingredients !', 'slice loaf of bread lengthwise', 'drizzle generously both sides of the bread with olive oil', 'place slices of prosciutto , staggered , on the bottom portion of the bread', 'grate cheese and sprinkle on top portion of bread', 'shake dried oregano and parsley on top of cheese', 'fold together both portions of bread and wrap in foil or shrink wrap', 'place brick or books on top , press and let sit at room temperature for one hour', 'these sandwiches can be made up to 24 hours in advance , just make as instructed including the 1 hour room temperature directions', 'you can then place in the refrigerator overnight , just be sure to let sit until room temperature for serving purposes', 'these are great for a picnic served with some lambrusco !'

easy and simple but so good. we even chose to slice this in bite-sized form to serve post-ceremony at our outdoor wedding along with other finger foods before dinner. these were the first to go!

💬 Reviews (This was very very good. I made as directed before trying new things. I love cabbage in pretty much any form, but it can be hard to get others in my house to like it. My oldest kids devoured what we had been saving for leftovers. I think in the future I will be adding a lot more salt & pepper, as well as some minced garlic. I am really glad that I had the big pan out to make the filling. Trust the process... the cabbage cooks down. Thanks for a great addition to the rotation. Cheers! :))

fancy shmancy baked chard stuffed onions

    onions', 'butter', 'swiss chard', 'garlic clove', 'fresh sage', 'parmesan cheese', 'pine nuts', 'olive oil', 'vegetable stock', 'salt', 'pepper', 'bechamel sauce', 'all-purpose flour', 'milk'

🍳 Directions

place unpeeled onions in a pan , cover with water and boil for ten minutes or until tender , remove from water and cool', 'trim off the root of the onion and save , peel off the outer skin of the onion', 'using a spoon , hallow out the center of the onion so that there are only two outter layers left', 'chop the insides of the onions and reserve', 'over medium heat , heat the butter and cook the sage , chard , and garlic', 'remove from heat and mix with the chopped onions and the pine nuts', 'heat oven to 350 degrees', 'for sauce: heat the butter over medium heat and gradually stir in flour until it is absorbed', 'gradually add the milk a little at a time , bring to a boil and then lower heat to simmer until the sauce thickens', 'add the parmesan to the sauce , and then mix it in with the chard mix', 'stuff the onion cases with the herb and sauce mix', 'arrange onions in a greased 9x13 oven safe baking dish and add the vegetable stock and any of the left over stuffing to the dish around the onions', 'top the onions with the reserved root caps and heat in the oven for 20 minutes , or until heated through', 'upon serving , spoon the vegetable broth mixture over the onions', 'enjoy !'

adapted from a cookbook called flavoring with herbs, this is a great recipe for stuffed onions, but only if you really like onions. the presentation of them is amazing, and they can be used as a side dish to any main course, or as a vegetarian main dish (that's what we do!)

💬 Reviews (Loved these, I used the whole wheat Runza Dough recipe but I used white flour and they were great. I added lots of spice to the meat, black pepper, red pepper, and garlic powder while it was cooking. Also put fresh chopped jalapenos and swiss cheese in the packets, and was hoping for some left overs but Grandsons just happened by and ate.. My husband and son said the bread was the best and would like to have hot rolls from the recipe. The cabbage and grated carrot really made the sandwich good. I will be making them again real soon.)

boil water and set quail eggs in pot', 'boil for 5 minutes , then rinse under cold water', 'gently peel the shell and slice each egg in half lengthwise', 'to make the dressing:', 'break the chicken egg into a food processor or blender', 'add salt , garlic , mustard and black pepper , then blend together', 'pour the oil in a thin trickle through the hole in the top with the machine still switched on', 'when all the oil is all in , add the vinegar , lemon juice and tarragon , then blend for one minute', 'for the salad:', 'arrange 3 butter leaf leaves on each plate and top with spinach', 'arrange the eggs on the salads', 'sprinkle peas evenly on each salad', 'drizzle each salad with the dressing and sprinkle toasted walnuts on top', 'grind black pepper lightly on top'

this is fairly simple and the main attraction is the quail egg. if you have never had a quail egg, you will be pleasantly surprised! they taste delicious and i find that they peel much easier than chicken eggs. the taste isn't actually that much different than chicken eggs; maybe a little milder. the fresh peas add a crisp crunch to the salad. this light salad would be an impressive start to a meal.

heat oil and butter in a large skillet , add onions and saut until well browned but still soft about 15 minutes', 'add garlic and cook for 5 minutes more', 'add cabbage and cook until wilted', 'stir in wine and broth scraping the bottom to loosen browned bits', 'cover skillet', 'reduce heat to low and cook until cabbage is tender', 'salt and pepper to taste', 'if serving with pirogi , add cooked pirogi and simmer for about 5 minutes'

💬 Reviews (This is the recipe I have--given to me by my MIL, a native Nebraskan. Every year I try to make at least one large batch and freeze several for warming up for lunch on cold weekend afternoons. However, the leftovers usually get eaten before they get frozen. ;-) Admittedly when my Nebraskan in-laws first introduced them to me I was skeptical--but after one bite I was a fan. Plus you couldn't ask for something more simple to make! Trust me, don't mess with perfection--this is exactly how this recipe should be.)

a fancy version of the good old s.o.s. the sausage adds a nice touch, but you do what you like. i really hope you enjoy it--we do!!

💬 Reviews (One extra tip, to give it the nice crispy top. Beat an egg (and whatever seasoning if you'd like to add some flavor to the crust) and brush it on top of each one before baking! Also, when using some doughs, it's tough to pinch and keep together, so keep a small bowl of water next to you and dip the tip of your finger and run it along the edge to help seal. Great recipe and easy to remember!)
