this was handed down to me from my mom.
💬 Reviews (Too salty for me and too crunchy for the kids. I think this was due to the dry onion soup mix. The gravy was super thick and everything has an extra dose of pepper.)

whats great about a cream biscuit is that there is none of that cutting in of butter or shortening, just pour in the cream and stir. easy! from cooks illustrated make-ahead recipe cookbook. the only thing that bugged me with the recipe is that it calls for 4 1/2 cups of cream, most large cream containers at the store are 32 oz. or 4 cups, i wasn't about to buy another thing of cream, so i just used 1/2 cup of the milk out of my frig to make up the difference. it was just fine to me.
💬 Reviews (Warning: Wear baggy pants (you are going to overeat) and be prepared to nap afterwards. Another terrific recipe, Kittencal! I doubled the recipe and prepared it as instructed, except I used a little less dry onion soup mix to keep the salt down because I was using (dry) parmesan cheese from a jar instead of the freshly grated stuff, and I knew the dry type would add a salty flavor itself. I also used heavy whipping cream, because it was on hand and I have no idea what 18% table cream is. Ha,ha! I only used 3 cans of the condensed soup, and there was plenty of gravy even with doubling the batch. Also, I transferred my nicely browned patties to a baking dish, poured half of the gravy on top, then flipped them and covered them with the remaining gravy, and tightly sealed the dish with aluminum foil, and then baked it in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 55 minutes. This freed up my stovetop space for the mashed potatoes and green beans. (And also enabled me to be lazy and not have to keep an eye on it.) This is a (Comfort Food) that will also impress as a (Company Food). Delish! Hats off to you, Kitten!)

this is a old family recipe. my great aunt hazel has been making these for a very long time. they are just wonderful. my mom uses a little of both.
💬 Reviews (Delish! I made this as directed except that I substituted some sauteed fresh mushrooms for the canned ones. My grand daughter helped make the patties and the gravy and was very pleased with herself for 'making' such a crowd-pleaser, lol. Thanks Kitten for some great comfort food that made both me and my grand daughter look so good.)

this recipe is from the 1981 sunset vegetarian cooking cookbook. the cookies include a combination of dates, coconut and walnuts. preparation time does not include time for dough to chill in freezer. cooking time is approximate, depending on how many cookie sheets are in the oven at one time!
💬 Reviews (good salisbury steak. I made it just like the recipe)
